Default Headlight question

Newbie question here: I have seen a few vette's now that have these type of headlights instead of the pop-up style headlights. Were there certain years that had this style, is it a custom fron end or is it something that can be changed? I have a 78 with the pop-ups and would like to chage them to this style if it can be done fairly easily not to mention having to deal with the problems associated with the pop-up style. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Its a custom thing
I cant imagine why anybody would want to alter the popups which were basically the signature of the Corvette for 40 years...it's your car and its your choice

I prefer stock and someday it will pay off.

Thanks I finally found them on Ecklers. WOW at $600 for the pair I will leave mine alone! I have much better ways to spend that kind of cash on my vette.

Thank you for the info. I have seen quite a few that have been done that way but you answered my question in that it is not the norm and would probally hurt the value of the car in the long run. I kind of like the looks of them that way but not enough to devalue my car so I will leave as is for sure!

Now that you've priced them, try pricing what it would cost to return yours to stock if it wasnt already. Theoreticly, you could sell your stock set-up for most of what the conversion cost's!

I priced what it was going to cost to replace the stock pop ups at over $1000 for both complete assemblys That including every thing since mine were totaly destroyed. I was able to find the square light assemblys on E-Bay for $210. I personaly prefer the pop ups, but they were way out of my budget.

Come resale time, you would reduce the value of your '78 if you change out the stock pop up units. Keep the pop ups and keep the $$ in your pocket.

Yeah no kidding! I am going to keep my pop ups for sure. Thanks to everyone for the great info. As far as keeping the money in my pocket well I am not sure I will ever do that now that I own a vette. Too many other things a want for it.

Well, I suggest you listen to experience (Im not including myself) when it comes to C3's as far as tech matters go but if you want your car to look different and express yourself through it then by all means, do what you wish
