Default Insurance?

Currently I have Haggerty which isn't very cheap. I have limited miles since its registered as QQ here in Jersey. I'm a 25 yr old male which doesn't help with a sports car.
With the sidepipes & big motor I don't think it would pass inspection so I have it registered as QQ so I don't have to inspect it every year. Only problem is QQ is for show/parade cars only.
I drove my 74 coupe for 3 years as a QQ with no problems.
I'd like to get away from the QQ plates but wanted to hear your feelings and see what you chrome bumper guys are doing if you want to drive your car all summer.

What insurance companies are you guys using?
Restrictions?
Price aprox (per yr)?
Satisfied?

Thanks
-Brett

On my '69 and '68's, I found that Grundy's. Haggerty and American Collectors were all within $200 a year or less. The coverages were slightly different, but overall it's a toss-up.

How much are you paying ? Hagerty quotes $650/year for a 25 year old driver with a modified '68 in NJ (value $20000). That's not expensive........

The premium for a 25 year old driver with a modified '68 is more than f.e. a 45 year old driver with a stock '68.

If my memory is working today, I think I paid aprox $800 last december when I was 24. Hagerty was the only insurance company that would insure a 24yr old on his own. The car was insured as a 68 with modified 454 valued at 20k. Come this december I will be insuring the car at a much higher value after the frame off and everything new. Just looking for a good company with the least amount of hassles for the best buck.

Anyone know if you value your car above 40k if they require an actual inspection appraisal at your home? and if you have receipts for all new parts if the insurance company will give you issues valuing your car that high?

I think the modified part is raising your rates, what are you considering modified? a few mods to the engine like headers and intake to me would not make a car modified. now a blower and a roll cage definitley.
I currently have my 71 insured with hagerty for 25K under restoration for 108.00 per year, this is comp only, no liability since it is not on the road. I was quoted 365.00 for full coverage with a 45K value. and thats in Louisiana, some of the highest rates in the country. but I am also 45

72 convertible is $83 for 6 months; collector plates, restricted (not a daily driver) for full coverage including $100 deductible. I'm 54 and no tickets....insuring 6 vehicles and the home with State Farm.

The 91 coupe is classified as a daily driver and is $47/month for full coverage with 100 deductible.

With the mileage I put on State Farm is coming out ahead on those two.

I have Hagerty because they would let my daughter drive occasionally even though she has not had a license long enough for some (10 yrs). They said, "If you trust her to drive, it's fine by us." I pay $746 for a 56 Bird (25k), 72 Vette (25k) and 63 Vette (40k). I recently upped the 63 to 60k with no appraisal. I don't hve how much more per yr, but it's worth it. I plan to up the 72 (LT-1 a/c coupe).

I currently have American Collectors, but you're not really supposed to drive it all around and I'm limited to 2500 miles a year. If you want to "cheat" you can use regular plates and get the collector vehicle sticker for the car---that's the triangle sticker. You have to pay $10 extra for the sticker and get a voucher at the motor vehicle registration office. You also have to take it to the inspection station and the only thing they check is that your odometer works. I have this for my '72 and I drive it all around--about 2500 miles a year. Kathy

I have used hagerty for 2 years now.
250/500 zero deductable
comp.. zero deductable
unlimited mileage.
$15,000 agreed value

$277.00 per year.

Grundy was a bit cheaper but had a mileage cap

My Allstate policy was good but was $250 every 6 months and didnt offer a $15,000 agreed replacement.

Most require you to be 25, Hagerty was the only one I found that would insure me when I was 24.

Try Condon and Skelley, a division of MetLife. I get 35K for $350/yr. They do have a mileage limit and they do ask every year.
