Is there a trick to installing the headlight shrouds?
I have 72 Corvette it never had the headlight shrouds. I have a pair now but it is a really tight fit and I don't want to force them in.
Thanks....Chris
Some can be tight to put in. The most important issue is to protect the paint around the opening. Use masking tape around the opening. At the back of the headlight door be careful that it does not come in contact with the body when you open it. To get mine in I have to pull up on the door just slightly to get it in.
Good luck
Steve
As mentioned you may have to pull up the door a bit to get them in and disconnecting the actuator eye bolt will make this easier. The other way although harder and helped me is if you have the front bumper and lower grilles off, you can install them with the doors closed.
I had the same problem, what I did was:
Removed the bolt in the center of the headlights (This bolt ties the pushrod from the auctuator to the hinge assemble of the headlight door). This bolt allows the headlight top to fully swing up with no resistance from the auctuator pushrod. I then inserted the headlight housing with pleanty of clearance. Screwed it in and then put the bolt back and tightened it up from underneath.
Hope this helps.
