Question Is Has Anyone Put Just A Cap Over Their Dash, and If So How Does It Look.
I can't argue with opinions, here's mine that I got off ebay for $44. It's called a corvette dashpad coverlay that's been on 2 years now. I am very happy with mine.
I bid on several before I got it for that price. When you get it you'll have to paint it the color you want. They come solid black.
There are 2 listed on ebay right now. If you want the item #'s they are
160039662560 & 160040558726
I have used two of the big vendors complete dash pads (still have the second one on my car, going to keep that one since it's "ok" and I can live with it) and they don't fit any better than a cap would.....even around the guage area.

So I say go for it....$44 is cheaper than $350 +
I've got a new CA dash in my 79. It fits like a POS. The gage clusters don't fit right, no screw holes are drilled, glove box door fit is less than poor. If someone built a good fitting unit with screw holes & adequate strength in those holes, they could sell it for 50% more and have a larger backlog than they could possibly handle.
