Thank you to the forum again. I learned a long time ago that no matter how much you think you know, you never know enough. YES the calipers that we sell are S/S sleeved. Thank you for helping me see the light.:bb
Meh I've got the original brakes and they aren't leaking! 25 years... now THAT'S quality.
When I bought my black Vette in '99, it still had the factory brakes, as I had to drill the rivets. Pads may have been changed, and lower ball joints were changed. But, stock calipers and rotors on a 22 year old car is commendable. It didn't stop well when I got it, but it is worth mention.
I still have the stock calipers. They last a lot longer if the fluid is flushed every once in a while.
That's a VERY good point. Every few years it's a good idea to change the brake fluid. Keeps everything operating smooth. It can be a pain, but it's worth it in the long run.

When i bought my '79 in 2004 it still had the original rotors and I had to drill the rivets to get them off. They were rusted but after some cleaning I reinstalled the rotors and only replaced calippers and pads.... breaks work fine except a runout problem that I'll take care of soon

Did you check bearings? They can go bad and have a huge impact on runout.

The bearings are fine..... I'm sure I have runout problems because I reinstalled the old rotors without any shims.... wait a second.... what were those rusted things that fell on the floor when I pulled the rotors ??? Hmmmm..... maybe I should have paid a little more attention.....

Well if they weren't e-brake parts falling out you may have lost a shim. Did you keep them or toss them, or leave them on the floor under the bench?

Well... a few month after I finished my brake and suspension work I found out these were the shims and I should have measured runout.... ... I have to return the front left calipper to AutoZone because of a bad spot face where the copper washer goes.... I'll then correct runout and bleed the system one more time. Right now I don't have paint and no interior so it's not very high on the priority list
