Would anyone like to comment on this stamp pad... original or restamp? I know it's harder to tell since it's painted.
I don't see anything that would cause me to suspect a restamp but than that assessment is clouded by...
1. Paint
2. Picture resolution
3. And I would ask myself...It's a 350 350 4 speed with A/C...why would someone restamp a 350/350
The paint has been on there for awhile it looks like. The characters line up relatively well and looks rather typical. When I zoom in...the lack of resolution permits the quality to distort so it really is difficult to determine the presence or absence of machine marks on the stamp pad which is further distorted by the presence of paint. Even the heavy strike on the HX end in contrast to the V end looks typical and illustrates the human touch of the 70's (well actually late 60's). How's that for a clinical response?

I LIKE IT !!! looks fine............everything is same size, straight, lined up nice & as already stated the darker part being the heavy strike on one side, going from heavy to light as the stamped on an angle is like mine.........also agree that a 350 is less likely to be restamped ZIXXX PACKER

Looks like a '69 350/350 4 speed with AC to me. Engine assembled on August 1. Time build date on your Corvette should be in the area of August 15th, 1969, give or take. After the strike.
Maybe just the picture...but the VIN derivative doesn't appear quite straight. Also, the type code seems disticntly deeper than the plant/date, maybe more than just an uneven whack. Also, not being able to see the pad without paint is severely limiting, in terms of broach marks or other machining marks.
Not suggesting a restamp, not enough information shown. All earlier corvette engines are worth enough to drive restamping, not just big blocks.

Steve
TYPE CODE DEEPER THEN PLANT DATE, mine is exactly the same, i think if they held the stamp on an angle & not flat across the pad plain, or hit it hard on an angle it would cause it to appear dark to light, again mine is exactly the same...........maybe theres only one guy restamping blocks all the same way ? i'd like to see what it looks like under the paint !!!
