Here's a few pics from the build of the 405, slated to go in the Vette in the early spring. It's gone well so far, and I'm waiting on a few parts before I can proceed much further. It's been great, enjoy.
Lookin' Good Durango!
I hope to not bee too much longer either. Missing a few cubic inches aren't you? Glenn
It's funny you say that, because yes, when I dropped the block off to be machined and bored, I suggested +.030 as most vendors sell lots of parts fro a +.030. When I got it, I made so to ask what pistons I needed, and he started with saying it was a +.020 bore, so buy pistons and rings accordingly. I scoffed a little, but in the end I found the right pistons and rings and all is well. I'm fine with a 405...I actually think it sounds better than 406. No problems, but yeah, some of you have a 001ci advantage over me...

She's real fine my "Four Oh...Five???" Don't think it will make the top 10 on the hit parade. But, get to work ...that thing better be ready in April. Maybe you should schedule a STL C3 Sharks tech day in the near future Be sure to get a bigger frig though. and schedule it on a Mizzou football weekend. That should help to "getter done."

The cooler may be small but is well stocked and organized. Just one thing, where's the Mic ultra ?
That tiny cooler is actually at my buddies garage where I had to stop off for some tools I left over there. In the lowest of the five pics in post #1, you can see the three white boxes in the background? Those are my beer coolers. A full fridge, and two freezers. I'm pretty set on Bud Light...but I do enjoy an Ultra when the occassion calls for it.

Thats a case! That will work! Oh an nice job on the motor. Thad be Rippen!!
Isn't that one-piece oil pan gasket the best thing since sliced bread!!?? Took long enough for them to come out with it. Are you going to powder coat?
rg
Nah, I am still a fan of rattle canning what I want a certain color. A: I don't have an oven or a Powder Coat System. B: I've gotten pretty good at prepping a surface for paint and maintaining it so it looks good fro many years.
I will get into it sooner or later...it's just not something I've had a desire to start yet.
I'm only 4 hrs away. I don't know much about engine assembly but I can hold down a stool and get rid of those pesky ultra's for ya
I aways have a spare stool around the shops, and a cold fridge that can always use some patronage. If you're ever in the area le me know and we kick back with a few cold ones.
Are the 8 large holes in the sides of the block some kind of fancy beer bottle cupholder?

Cool, I will watch for it. If everything goes OK and the weather is nice I will cruise over for it. Seems like half the forum is from Columbia. I was through there a couple of weeks ago and didn't see a single Vette.

I got the name, it called the Mid Missouri Corvette Cup, and it's be held sometime in April.
I installed the intake and began prepping it by plugging un-used bungs, and my next step is procurring a new cam button, and re-installing the timing cover, water pump...and beginning the process of cleaning and installing all the serp brackets and accessories.
