I have a black 97 c5 and a black 72 with hooker side pipes .
no one looks at the c5 but there are a always people checking out the
72 with 383 and a 5speed vert.
I love the idea of having both cars 25 years apart . the 97 for long trips the 72 for 3 or 4 hundred at the most .
of course the big dog chopper get's more looks than both corvettes

[QUOTE= I very, very seldom oblige them and am normally the first to get off the throttle when I engage; common sense overcomes my sense of bravado stupidity…if I’d had this car when I was 15 years the younger I’d probably not be here…[/QUOTE]
I agree ........At 45 I finally bought my high school dream car.....And I also agree with easy Mike because I'm not one of those guys who drives around looking at who's looking at me but u must agree it does make u feel a little special when people's heads turn when they see that C-3 cruising by......No other other car gets that reaction..... I get thumbs up and questions just about everytime I stop somewhere in my 69. The other day I'd just finished waxing it & it was lookin pretty nice. I decided I owed the car a drive in the hills & I stopped at a Starbucks to grab a cup on the way- this particular Starbucks is a bit of a car nut hangout for some reason, mostly ricers but they're still into all cool cars.
I lucked into a spot right in front & there were about 12-15 late teenagers hanging there watching me & listening to the car. I noticed several riced out imports in the lot as I parked.
I hopped out and this guy, trying to be funny in a nice way, said "Hey, you wanna trade cars?". His group was smiling & I said the first thing that popped into my head- "You got a Ferrari?". He had started to shake his head & point to his car when his friends erupted in laughter at what I'd said. He just dropped his arm, hung his head, & then started laughing with the rest. We talked a bit but the point is that our cars can bridge a generation gap just about as well as anything out there.
The interest I get from my '72 is from one age extreme to the other.
I've had kids in the back of their moms' SUV wave at me, I once had an older (80ish) woman stop as she was walking by the house.
She asked what year I had, told me her husband had bought a
'69 new. She said he had it for years, he really loved that car.
My teenage daughter said it best. The day I brought it home she said
"that is one sexy car..."
I had both car parked side by side at a few shows this summer. My son and I sat back and watched the people. Seems the 30 and younger group like the C5 and the older than 30 group like the C3. That’s just my observations this summer.
Bought my 77 new, still have it. Bought a new '04 Z06, sold it 4 months later. Was nice, fast enough, but lacked a certain "character."
Others may be able to better describe it but that's how I felt.

Almost the exact situation with me. I have a 76 & I owned a 04 Z06. Although the Z could do everything twice as well as the 76, it just lacked the "heart & soul" of the stingray. Sold the Z after 8 months & bought a new pickup. I do miss the power of the Z though.
Come on people I can not believe this question that has been posted. Look at the C-3 it has beautiful curves like a pretty Woman then look at the C-5 it is a door stop next to a C-3.
The C3 gets me comments, questions, compliments, offers to buy...the Z06 seems to get ignored in comparision and its Millenium Yellow ...I love both cars but if one has to go its gonna be the Z...The 80 was my first Vette and Im never getting rid of it.
Unless the C5 is super nice with tasteful modifications or loud exhuast, I don't even think about telling the guy he has a nice car.......unless I'm parked beside him. There's just too many C5's and 6's. The C3....now that's a completely different story. I get comments ALL the time and someone wanting to race at every light. Everything from Neon SRT-4's to F-Bods.
When I pull in the gas station among the questions I'll allways get is what kind of gas millage I get.I just tell them I don't know, when it gets empty I fill it up.People who worry about gas millage shouldn't have a Vette. They do like the style and say you don't see many of those around anymore
I think people are more likely to give attention to a C3 because they know the C3 owner is a "car guy". There are too many C5 C6 owners on the road today who would take the car in for service just to change the battery.

While I agree the C3 is way more "wow," I would guess more people want to race you in your C3 because they stand a far better chance of blowing your doors off than if you were in a C5.
c3's have always caught my eyes.....I mean the new ones look good and all....they're just something you see just about everyday......you know? c3's on the other hand kind of demand attention.....
it's like the mid-late 60'sish body style stangs.....they look ok, but I see them alot around here.
I know before my vette decided to start knocking, I got got tons of looks and kids giving me the "wow" look......I'm ok with the attention....if I don't want the atten. I'll just drive the Grand Prix GTP......
I just sold my C5 which had been my DD for the last 7 years. Decided that the C3 was enough of a fix for my 'Vette needs. And for the most part, the C3 always gets more looks than the C5 ever did.

I doubt most people know enough about C3's to know they're not fast. If that is the case then I'm sure everyone who has met me at a light has had their ego bruised. Honestly, I'm sure the same guys try to race C5's too though.
