speedo cable replacement
I am trying to get my speedometer working on my 77 coupe. It seems to have had quite a few mechs working on it over the years. Originally, the car had cruise control which no longer works. Can I just get another cable and housing that attaches to tranny and speedometer and bypass the cruise control servo altogether?

Yes, get a cable for non-cruise. You may or may not have damage to the driven gear in the transmission and the "bullet" that it goes in. I would probably replace both while you are doing this job. Last I checked, all 3 parts were still available from GM.
