'New' Silver 77
About two months ago we drove my aunt’s husbands 79 for a while and we talked about how having one would be fun to have one to cruise around on the weekends. So we started looking and my wife Jaime happened to be talking to friends of hers in Brown County and said we were looking for one. They said “we are getting ready to sell ours would you be interested?” We went down and the rest is history. They were the original owners, have a two inch thick stack of receipts of anything they ever bought for it, the car has only 71k miles and he took 4k off the asking price since they know Jaime. It is not a numbers matching car due to a replaced, not rebuilt, transmission in the 80’s but oh well.
Also my wife said the week we got it was probably the best week of my life because
1. We got a Vette
2. Went to the Colt’s game and drank (They won)
3. Went to Bowling Green on vacation and went to the museum and took the plant tour!
Not a bad week…
It probably needs paint in the next two years and needs new rear calipers ASAP but I get a discount at an auto parts store, have access to a lift, my cousin owns a repair shop and said he would only charge me for only labor if I brought parts in so I should be able to do work on it cheap. And get plenty of great advice from you all!
Also a friend has a C-4, has worked on cars through the years and said he can rebuild the carb and help with other things. I will just fix things here and there because I want to have fun with it and not spend a year or longer doing a full frame rebuild! (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)
We have been pulled over in all ready though for the rear tail lights not working. The cop was real cool though. He had 5 Vettes in the past and was impressed how good it looked for the age. He gave me ideas on what the problem might be and told us to head back home with the flashers on and didn’t get it a ticket. God love small towns! I think I tracked down the problem with the lights. The rear wiring harness wasn’t completely snapped in place and I think that fixed it. I have also screwed some loose screws around the shifter consol and the trim looks much better. Little things I know but there is a sense of pride none the less. Next up is seals around the T-tops…
Enough rambling here is the car!

I can tell by your smile in the picture that you have been smitten by the madness!
I've owned mine for a year now and I still get a ear to ear grin when I gaze upon her.
It looks just like my 76'!
