I did mine just the opposite did all the work then paint .
I'm not sure which is best . I was told a long time ago always have a good looking ride and you will never give up on it unlike an ugly one .

Actually, that modified car cover is a GREAT idea. Keeps the paint safe ALL OVER!!! If I had done that after new paint, maybe I wouldn't be fixing so many chips
