lost power to workshop (wiring issue). will be out of 120 current for a while. looking for a battery power supply for lighting purposes in the meantime. any suggestions from forum members.
saw these on Amazon. anyone have any comments or experiences with these?
hard for me to determine how long this would power a few 100 watt bulbs (for under car work) or the overhead flourescent lights in my workshop (3 sets of two, eight footers) (or ideally, both!!!!!!!). if it'll drain it in 30 minutes or so, probably not worth it. would hope to get at least 3 or 4 hours use per charge. any suggestions.
That middle link for the one that is 1500 watts, might do the trick but, how expensive are these? I didn't see a price and how long does it take to recharge one of these units? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a small generator. You can buy a small generator that puts out about 2500 to 3000 watts for about $400.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I would also go with a generator. THere is no info on how long they will run anything and from my experience these battery backups are for temporary power outages and don't last very long until the power is depleted. I would be suprised if any of them would last more than a couple of hours fully loaded.
Here's what I consider a funny story of a friend's father. About two years ago, we had an ice storm up here in NW Ohio that took out the power over a wide area for 7 days. Friend had a battery powered inverted and hooked up for his father to use in father's garage as a temp source of lighting. No tool long afterwards I dropped and discovered that father had plugged in his 12 volt battery changer into the inverter and was attempting to recharge the battery running the inverter. I guess father has never heard of why perpetual motion doesn't work.
