Default 78 models

hi all. first post here.
Im looking to purchase a 78 model corvette in the near future seeing as import laws are easier into australia for 30 + year cars.
That has lead me to a couple of questions i was hoping someone could answer.
for the pace car model (l82), what kind of performance could be exepected from a good condition, original motor. Ruff guess on the quater mile, 0-100km/h (??60 m/p>??) would be great.
The 25th anniversary models, same kind of questions as above.
Any comments on the driving comfort, better qualities or advice about these two models would be great.
basically, doing my homework to try and decide which would make the better buy.
all comments appreicated.
luke.

The base engine L-48 was 185 net horsepower without the California emissions package.

The optional L-82 was 220 net horsepower.

You can probably Google back issues of the automotive magazines and find articles of what these cars could do when tested.

There are no major differances between Pace Cars and regular production '78s with the exception of the seats. Pace Cars have the split back buckets.

Other than paint and seats there are no differences. Two basic SB 350 engines.
L-82- slow
L-48- slower

Good news is if you choose these engines can be modded to add some HP and torque. Still more cruiser than shredder. Go older (pre cat/big engines) or newer if you are looking for kick.

and tougher to find, lol! even though there are virtually no differences in the 78 models, the pace car came loaded with options that might not have been ordered on most other cars that year. the seats are loads more comfortable (if you can accept any comfort what so ever from that era car) as they have better foam structure than the stock 78 seats.

unless you find one that has been completely restored, you can expect a bit of a rougher ride than you probably think about from the older suspension, etc. even restored, they were a "bit rough around the edges". after all it's 30 year old technology.

look for the usual problems involving rust in the birdcage and in the frame rail "joints" particularly in the front.

good luck.
