Default Driver Seat Motor

Good morning guys. Been searching for a driver side, front to back seat motor. I am not sure I am using correct key words or they are just not available. I have tried Ecklers, Paragon, Corvette Central
This is for an '82

Anyone rebuild motors? Anyone make use of another updated motor?

Should I trash the electric seat altogether and go with normal seat brackets? +'s / -'s

Any direction toward vendors would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I've never seen rebuilt or new motors, The motor on my 82's seats were pretty much shot.

I ended up buying a replacment used track w/motor off fleabay.....but before I started to use it I sold it and went with a set of manual tracks.

I like it a whole lot better, easier to use and maintain.

FWIW: Try Corvette Mack on eBay. He has a Corvette salvage yard at Atlanta. Email him through eBay if he doesn't have the motor listed.

TT --I have a cable here that came in a box of junk I bought at a swap meet. Its 26" long-the square ends are .148 and the cable diameter is .185 It could be from a full size car but your welcome to it if you want it.
Edit Gr8vet---JT Piper out of Vermillion Ill. said he will sell you the whole unit off bottom of seat, cables and all for $300---(Had to call him for something else.)

I'll measure mine..it just may do the trick the length is not really important (having to be dead on accurate) I could just snake it some other way to the motor...I'll check and let you know...thanks!

If your car came with the electric seat I sure would try and fix it and for god's sake don't break the switches on your seat when you go to move it out of the way.

Here is why: the electric switch module is NO LONGER available - new or re-pro! That $89.00 module will cost you close to $250.00 from a junk yard. Once these guys get wind that a part is no longer available they will jack the price right up to the sky. In my opinion junk yards over price as it is for tail light lenses and interior items.

If you can get your hands on a new motor, it will most likely be attached to the rails which isn't a bad thing as long as it lines up with your original holes. The main reason I like mine is because of the 6 way adjustment - I can lower the front cushion to elevate the back of the seat - which in turn adjust the angle of the chair back.
This has always been a complaint of the C3 - angle adjustment of the chair back.

BTW are you sure your motor is shot? Did you check the fuses - it could also be that expensive 6 way seat adjustment module.

Thanks to all you guys, I really like it over here on the C3 section, ya'll are nice and helpful.

I too have come so accustom to the 6 way adjustment seat in all the other cars and trucks we have, dang are we spoiled or what Hopefully I can keep this seat going. I did check everything else and it points to the motor. This C3 had some water leaks on this side coming through door/window prior to last owner who also let it sit, thank goodness, in his basement for 5 years.

I'll see if I can do some magic on adapting to another motor and module if need be. Heck, why not an entire new movement from another newer car and adapt the old seat. Any luck and I will post update and fixes. Worst case, go with the manual brackets and have to suffer.

Thanks again!

if it will help you out (and you can wait a bit for the part), i have a complete power seat set up as part of a set of restored frames i bought to put into my 78 pace car when i restore the interior (which i am about to do). i can't use the power seat portion (not available in 78 and not retro-fitable without adding a belly to the floor plan to compensate for the increased height using the power unit), so i was planning on selling it on ebay eventually anyway. make me a reasonable offer and it's yours if you care. it will just be a bit before i can unpack it and re-box it to ship it out to you. you can reach me by PM here or srs244@gmail.com.
