Had em two or three months and no problems here. Of course no matter who is in the car with me I ALWAYS warn them when we get out. 'Watch out for the pipes'

Burned my leg once. Warn the wife and/or any adults getting in and out. I left the kids in and out so that they don't burn themselves. No I will not put heat shields on my pipes.

I burnt my leg once on the test drive. The previous owner warned me but I was so excited when I got back to his house I forgot about it.

I think BangKock Dean is coming out with some really cool side pipe covers in the next few months.

Just make sure you open and close their door for them...that way you can help them in and out, and they won't have to plant a foot so close tot he car to get in. That's how the burn happens. To get leverage to get out of that low slung car, you have to put your foot down right outside the door. If you help them in and out until they are accustomed to it...no one will burn themselves. If they do...they'll only do it once. Heh heh.

Default sidepipes

I had a set of Hooker sidepipes on my 66 and they burned me more than once. I guess that is why I like the factory 69 sidepipes because they are insulated, they get real warm but won't burn

Burned myself only once, leaning in to put a parking coupon (?) behind my windscreen. I too warn everybody when they get in or out and so far, nobody had burns, not even my 80 year old grandma

2 Vettes ago I had sidepipes and I thought those could be a challange until I bought a Triumph Scrambler (motorbike) with high pipes. If you are familiar with that bike you will know what I am talking about.

High pipes make sidepipes look like childs play.

cobrastuff.com

They sell Cobra stuff but they have the sidepipe covers for the Hooker pipes as well.
If you want to buy covers wait for BangkokDean's version, I think he said he wants to start selling his covers before the end of this year.

Can he do that without being a vendor? I'd have thought the mods would not like that at all.

NOPE, never burnt. I bought and installed the slotted chrome sidepipe covers as soon as the pipes were installed.
