I had a simular problem. Don't ask me how it happened, but there was a large bulge about 1" diameter where the mounting bracket was welded on. It wasn't there when I installed the mufflers 2 years ago. As luck would have it, I had spiral turbos and could screw it out past the bulge. Couldn't get a regular Hooker muffler into it after that. Had to buy new side tubes.
I don't even want to see pictures like that. I'm thinking of putting the high flow inserts in mine next spring. I have no idea what the previous owner has in there now.

I don't think it's the rust that's holding it in or causing it to tilt. I got the first insert out and yes, the insert itself was rusty but it slid right out. I just turned it upside down and dropped the collector end on a piece of 2X12.
This second one started to come out but then jammed. If it was rusted in to the pipe, I don't think it would have moved the 3-4 inches that it did.
I still can't get over the amount of restriction when using these mufflers. The pipes go from a 4", four into one collector, into a 4" side tube and them into a 2" pipe? That's gotta kill any HP gains from the headers. I don't get it?
can you fit a large pipe wrench around the large insert and twist?....
I thought of that but I'm reluctant to buy a monkey wrench that large. I have a 3" but thats too small.
