76 in dash speakers

76 in dash speakers
Say, has anyone installed 4X6 plate speakers in their dash. I am looking at the Infinity Kappa's and they have 2" of depth. Any idea if these will clear the speedo and tach?

Looked ,tried ,put them in the kick panel area and took a ride. the dash hides the little screws on the driver side Looked like I would have to drop the steering wheel(loosen screws) and remove the cluster Nooooooo.Kick panel speakers sound great.

I replaced the speakers in my 76 last winter with a set of pioners. I didn't measure them but I think they were about 2" deep. Here is a picture with the dash pad out but the left dash panel in. It looks to me that a 2" speaker would fit.
If you do open up the dash, be careful, the dash pad can be brittle, it is 30 years old. Try to do it on a warm day or heat your garage, the pad will bend a little easier.

There should be no problem at all w/ the offset plate speakers in dash.
I disconnected the dash speakers in the 70s & recently removed them.
