Rik's is good.

Vents must be removed from the rear.

Technically they should be removed from the rear side of the dash, however, on my 68 I can gently pry them out from the front. It is a tight fit but it can be done and it saves you from removing the dash.
Don't know if the 76 is the same.
If you try it, be gentle so you don't damage anything.

This is good information. I have 2 new vent ***** for my '68 that I wanted to replace, and the thought of not having to contort my body in god knows how many ways to remove them from the back of the dash is good news.

Thanks.

They come out (and go in, for that matter) from the rear. If you can get them out the front, the felt seals are worn and need to be replaced.
