most of the corvette keys have a letter that is engraved in it, referring to the pattern of the key. if you can find this out then you can buy a new gm key from ecklers or wherever with that letter, then you're all set.
I had the door key to my sons 78 280Z, but the passenger door lock had been changed by PO, with no key....so we had one key for drivers door and hatch, another key for ignition, and NO key for passenger door. Looked around for lock sets, to match everything to one key, BUT they were around $200 for restored ones!!! So I pulled the drivers and pax door locks and hatch lock, ran them down to local locksmith, and had them all keyed to match the ignition key. Cost me about $45, now one key for the car!!!
I have seen Corvette lock sets for around $30??? Might be more cost effective to replace them as a set, then you have new, matching, unworn locks, even if not original to the car??

I have a square key that opens the doors and works on ignition, a round key for the cubby hole behind the seat, and another round key for the spare tire lock.
A good locksmith can handle that with no trouble at all.
I didn't find that to be true here in Va. In fact after contacting three and getting appointment cancelled I gave up and put new locks on both sides with new keys. They would never tell me why other than it takes essentially picking the lock then making a key to fit it on the blank and the businesses were all afraid I was somehow steeling the car even though it was in my garage and must have wanted no part of it.
None told me that directly but that was the net effect with three good locksmith companies.

How were they to know whether you stole the house or not?
I was looking at houses in the Montgomery area. We went to one that was new and opened the garage to find 2 Corvettes in the garage. The builder was apparently hiding them from his wife or the IRS or both. I wanted to buy the cars, but not the house.
