smaller spare?

i've given up on finding a good mini-spare for my 79 L82 (like it came with from factory). and, my understanding is the tires for them are no longer available. right??

i've got an extra 15 x 8 corvette rallye wheel. what is the smallest (therefore saving space and weight in spare compartment) tire that can be safely mounted on the 15 x 8 rim. AND one that's readily availabe and reasonably priced (ie from Tire Rack, etc.).

also, i'm running 245 60 15's on the car. so would want to be able to use the spare (on the rear if needed) without worrying about screwing up the diff and posi's. thanks.

You can use a full size wheel in the space compartment but it looks bad from the back of the car. If you need a spare I have a perfect one form my 79 just needs lots of clean-up but the tire and rim are in great shape. Just email me.

You can get a space-saver spare from a late F-body or C4 that is very close in size.

I put a new 205-70-15 on the original 78 spare wheel...$36 at Firestone...

Hi

Not to spoil the rear posi, the spare tire must have the same outside diamter as the opposite aft tire. The width does not matter at all, just the diameter.
