I got my BB back from the machine shop a few weeks ago, painted it all nice an pretty and began to install brackets mounts etc...
I'm going with all new bolts as most were original. As I was sizing up the bolt for distributor hold down bracket I dropped it down the distributor hole in the intake. It was like slow motion as I saw the bolt going down the hole I said "hooooooooly cr@@@@@@p". But it was too late.
I had the hole taped up until today. I ended up pulling the pan to get the bolt out.
I re-torqued the pan bolts. Should I be worried about my one piece pan gasket leaking?

I know nothing about building great long lasting motors but with my luck I would change the gasket now and not worry about having to change it once the motor is back into the car.
How much is a gasket these days? Little insurance now instead of having to pull it back and do it again once its in the car later.
Dont go just on what I say, wait till one of the more experienced motor builders gives an answer.

Probably less harm in a small leak that a bolt bouncing around inside. Besides, you can always change the pan gasket later is it turs out to leak. Not a big deal to do so on the car.
