Default I’ve Been Bubba’fied

Bought my 74 in October and since then I have had to do several little repair like the vacuum for the lights and some other odds and ends.

Had removed the engine to replace the came that developed a wiped cam in the #3 exhaust lobe, new cam, lifters and chain set. It would appear that the engine was rebuilt since it was so clean under the intake manifold and in one of the three boxes I received along with the car was a set of valves and springs.

Don’t understand why bubba would put the old can in after doing the rebuild then I though he put a new cam in but did not break it in correctly.

This week my radiator started leaking…. again. Stop leak fixed it last time so this time I decided to remove it and get it checked out. Had it power washed and pressure tested and repaired and the core support sand blasted while I was at it.

Got everything home and thought the radiator shop switched either the core support or the radiator because the radiator is too wide to fit in the support. Looked it over and it was the same parts I dropped off. It would seem bubba some how made a 76 or later radiator fit in a 74 core support.

I was able to get it to fit in the support somewhat okay and then found out why it was leaking. When installed in the car it would rub on the sway bar mount and wear a hole in that area.

Well, a little saws all here and a little grinding there and some pieces of rubber there I was able to get it back into the car and am able to enjoy the last couple of nice cool PA days. I will purchase a new aluminum radiator over the next week or so and fix the bubbafication.

Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I put a DeWitts in my 72 and now it looks like my temp gauge won't go past 180, even with the A/C on! (Not that I'm using A/C now) Sitting at an idle for a long period, it did go up to 200 once.
