Thanks to the non-winter we've been having I've been able to make some progress on the 72. We got the new frame home :
and into the garage after the old frame was dismantled.
Last weekend we did a test fitting of the engine and tranny to see what clearance issues would surface. In general things look really good. The engine sits almost exactly where the old one did, the exhaust clears the steering box (barely) and the trans crossmember looks like it won't have to be hacked too badly. The heater hoses have plenty of room but I'm going to have to switch to a straight water neck on the passenger side to clear the control arm. The next step is the mundane task of cleaning and painting the frame and everything that attaches to it.
I got my straight water neck from csr products comes in different colors and it was like $35.00 and uses a standard thermostat, not the ls ones.Looks like you guys are getting into the fun part now.Good luck

Thanks for the tip on the water neck Pat. I was looking around on the web yesterday for one and the only one I came up with was Meziere. The neck would run almost $200 from them. The neck that's on there now looks like it may have been from the stock pump.
I haven't quite finished the greasy crappy cleanup work yet but hopefully there is only one more weekend of that. Funny, I can't seem to get my sons interested in that part of the project.

Just tell them they can't drive it unless they help clean it. This applies even if they are too young to drive.
