Default Front Spring Pocket Cracks!!

I just discovered that the front spring pockets (in the frame) have some cracks in the metal just above where the springs rest. I guess I need to have those welded up?? Anyone else run into this issue and how did you fix it? Don't want the spring to eventually break thru!!

Switch to coil-overs then it won't matter.

Thought of that but dont the top of the coils on the coilovers rest in the same pocket on the frame? The ones from Speeddirect.com seem to work that way.

The front monospring conversion from VBP does not use the upper spring pockets at all. It uses the lower A-arm and lower A-arm mount on the frame.

Had similar issue on 78 SA drivers side..but it was a thin plate connecting pocket to cross member..ground it clean & welded the 3" crack...has not been an issue for over a year now...this is not uncommon,btw..

Wether you use the spring pocket or not, it's still a structural aprt of the frame and with the frame flexing the cracks will expand, weld it up!
