Default De-icing products vs. Vette

What effects does that magnesium chloride and CALCIUM MAGNESIUM de-icer that they spray on the roads in liquid form have on our cars?

I know the regular salt is bad news and the magenese is supposed to be better, but is it still doing damage?

I can't speak for automotive applications because the OEM's combat corrosion better today with new materials and coatings. But in the trucking industry there is a fairly recent term called "rust jacking." The new liquid de-icers are believed eat away at metals faster and cause new corrosion problems on trucks but it's been difficult for the industry to prove. One known area is brakes where the liquid gets between the brake lining and shoe. The corrosion "grows" causing the lining to separate from the shoe and the lining starts to crack and break apart.

So yes, being in the industry I see these effects with brakes and other parts corrosion that never happened so quickly before and personally believe these liquids are worse for steel and aluminum than rock salt. But the liquids work faster on the road and make the roads safer. So which is method is the best?
