How is it possible to bid without being signed in?
I never said I bid... Just by being on the ebay site and clicking anywhere on this guys add, it will take you to his email... For the record, you dont have to be signed in to cruise through ebay..
I'll be in Miami most of next week, get me the info and I'll go check out the cars, there is a place down there called " The Fortress" wjere there are a Lot of clasics and high $$ cars.

How can the guy manipulate the ebay page ? Is there an option when selling something on ebay to have all links on the page go to an email address ?
If you right click on the page and read the source code, you'll see an HTML link with his e-mail address. So, when he writes the description, he includes this HTML code. That turns the entire page into one big link, preventing you from clicking on anything else. Have you ever come across a webpage that you couldn't back out of? Same sort of thing.
Great info guys. Hope I didn't compromise anything by emailing him. The email link actually worked. He emailed me back three different times. I'll probably change my ebay password/credit card before I retire for the night.
I was also wondering how he could bypass ebay and have everything you do on the site go to his email. His email didn't ask for any personal information. The shipping company he gave me was DAS (Dependable Auto Shipping). I googled it and it came up. They have a toll free # but I can't find it right now. It's on their website. My brother-in-law was going to call and find out if they had the cars. Haven't heard from him.
Oh, brother...one last time: The cars do not exist! "Seller" finds pics/description of desirable cars elsewhere on E-Bay/Internet then posts the fraudulent auction. "Seller" collects "deposits" from everyone who falls for the scam and that's it. No cars, no shipping, no refund, no $$$...
It's amazing that people fall for these scams, but reading the number of posts inquiring about them on the forum, it doesn't surprise me. For everyone who posts asking for advice, there are probably 10 more who don't and send the funds.
And the people who post saying "You never know! Might be for real!", I've got a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.
20/20 is doing a story this Friday on the "Nigerian 419 scam". Some of you might want to tune in.
Found a new vette on ebay or yahoo auto for real cheap.Guy said car was in England. Emailed him said I had family in country and they would come down to look at them. Never heard back from the guy imagine that. Bug scam stay away
If there was any doubt about the car, take note... The car that was listed yesterday is now gone and the guy has another one in its place, not the same pictures but the same email and every spot on the listing activates his email address and not ebay. Another strange thing yesterday was there was the mystery 2 bidders that ran the car to $14,999 when the buy it now price was $6400 . Dont know how this guy is spamming ebay, but he must be making $$$ at it because he is there again today with another 69 Camero.. Save you money guys because the only deal there is a BAD deal

Not the point...be fun just once to confirm a scam..(most are obvious, anyway).and this very one might just be it.....that's why the suggestion of calls to confirm if cars really exist....
i had a simialar instance a while back. i was buying an amphibious 6 wheeler. the email "from ups" looked legit. it was ups@ups.com. we couldn't send the funds, so we called ups. the real ups is ups@upscoastal.com. the fbi put a block on this address, we almost lost some money there. so we had to send all the emails between us and the seller to ups, and then they sent them to the fbi.
big stuff...don't get caught up in it.
Still don't know how he would have gotten his money if I was to send ebay the money for them to hold, then it would go to him when I got the cars. Would ebay take his word for it and not mine?
I, too, don't believe the cars exist. Just trying to figure out the scam.
