Default Ducati 1098

Anyone go to the Cycle World show and see the 1098 in person yet?

Ill see her friday in L.A. and I cant wait. I hope history will forgive and forget the stylling of the 749/999.

I actually like the 749 and will probably end up getting one once the price has dropped a little more significantly thanks to the new style of the 1098.

The 1098 is a nice looking bike but I really wish they had have gone more along the lines of the new Desmodici (i can't remember how it is spelt). I love the rear end on the 1098... but that front is almost to Japanese looking.. looks like a squatter R1 front.

I will probably like it more in person though.

Have fun at the convention, it should be a blast!!!

Ducati claim in the few facts and features they released so far that "the 1098 is the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle in the world with the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any sportbike. For the first time Ducati MotoGP and World Superbike technology havebeen combined to create the premier streetbike."

The performance of the new 1098 is said to be 160hp with a weight of only 381 lbs.

NEW 2007 DUCATI 1098 SUPERBIKE: $14,995 MSRP

ducati was my first bike love, my dad bought me one even before i had the driving licence...i was 14
that was a 50cc called 50sl sport...
then i had the twin (parallel) 500cc...which remained lonely in the garage for 15 years!!! then one day i decided to switch the engine on again, you won't believe this but i only put fresh gas in the carb, gave energy to the battery and she started at the first kick ...so much she wanted to go back on the streets...so i presented it to a friend with the only condition he had to run her at least once a week...and there she is now, happy tourer and new happy owner...

ducati is really the most wonderful bike in the universe, not only because it's italian (some shares now are american though ) but because it's a bike with passion and life, 2 years ago i bought an R1, a beauty and fast like hell but i sold it after 300 km, not for my taste, a good piece of machinery but no life...

the superlight 900cc was a bike that wasnt a touring nor a real super sport like the later ducati bikes...i had one a good few years ago (yellow color...) when i sold it i just got the money that i spent for the tuning and to lighten it further (all carbon fiber accesories like tank/flares/etc).

I LOVE the 99-01-ish Monsters. If I didn't waste all my money on Corvette parts I'd have one

I love the look of the new bike!
Here's some shots of my Duc, I hope you like it. It was built in my garage, but all the welding was done by a trained professional (not me).

I agree, it was just fun. It would gently wheelie on throttle in low gear (After a bit of massaging the carbs)!! I bought it as a street bike whein I retired from racing FZR1000's.

My little 1984 RZV500R would spank it with no issues. I'm headed to Toronto this weekend to drop the old girl off at a secret shop just outside of town to freshen the motor and update some of the Ignition and Power Valve electronics. I'm betting on 116RWHP and 58-59 LBFT on the dyno. this is my #2 motor. #1 motor will use 4 TZ250 cylinders and should ring in at 148-152 RWHP

Just imagine if my 502 made 300RWHP per liter normally aspirated

The dealers have been dumping 749/999s out here in So. Cal for quite a while now. Yea the 1098 does look a little Japanese but that whole two rectangular look up front was initiated by the 916.

My favorite bike is (and always has been) the...............one im riding at the moment. Good luck with the 749.

P.S. the new sport bike is going to be a lot cheaper re: maintenance as well.

I saw it on the cover of Cycle World Mag. I'm waiting to see it in person at the motorcycle show here in DC next month.

When I first saw it, I thought cool, nice Ducati. Then I saw the price.

Well, I'm not looking for a motorcycle lift so I can fit it in my garage with my other toys.
