This morning,I was backing out of the driveway when I barely heard "ting ting"....so I pulled back in and found the nut had backed off the smog pump pivot bolt and the bolt head was rubbing against the A/C belt....had to glue the nut to the wrench to get it started...this time I added a lockwasher...
At least your out driving yours. I cant seem to get enough time to enjoy mine. And when I do have time...its raining.

Our "rainy"season comes late....Feb/March....at least 3" a year...
But , I put about 200-300 miles on Vette runs each month...so I'm really racking up the miles...higher maintenance,etc...your vette will last longer...
There was one last month I missed that was 500 miles total...a one day run..my bud has 11,000 miles on his C6 Z06 already...

Lock washers will work everytime I think I've finally got mine alllll on!! I can also relate to the 11K on the Z6...
btw: Looks like the weather is coming to a screatching halt...dang!!!
At my age, when doing repairs/etc...I make a checklist and tape it to the windshield....I missed tightening that nut...it was not on the list..but my hearing is very good....
Weather here is cooling slightly...but will be in 70's for next several weeks...

rihwoods,
Lucky you caught it as you were pulling out of the driveway rather than have it happen at highway speeds and possibly do some damage before you could pull over.
I say you lucked out.

One of those pollution gadgets they had in the late 60s that I threw away in 1972 and now I need to buy for approximately $1800.00 (pump and complete setup) to make my car correct. This isn't the first time I have done something stupid like that.
I think the expression is "Too soon old, too late smart"

Let's hear it for the sunny SoCal weather. I've been driving my 72 almost daily. Too bad we're expecting some rain this weekend. But at least I'm getting a lot of use out of her!

I don't put much stock in rain forecasts down here...everytime it turns out as fog...mist or something...when it does rain, there are 300 accidents in one day..only time I don't drive mine...

Ducked a bullet, for sure...if the A/C belt had snagged that bolt,it could have taken out my new Dewitts and then some...
