i was looking at some trigo cobra replica wheels, very nice (and quite expensive) pieces of machinery for my '77, they come in 7.5x15 front and 9.5x15 rear BUT all of them have the only BS available 3.5''...my car has stock 4'' BS stock and specially for the rear wheel i'd need a more positive BS (around 5 or 5.50'') if i wanted to go larger without the need for flares...what do you think? will the wheels go out the edge too much with 3.5''? will i definitely need flares to cover them? specially the rear ones? other cons against 3.5'' BS in a vette? anyone of you went lower then 4''?
sorry for the huge quantity of questions
My rims are 15x8 with 3.75" backspacing. Now in the front, 3.5" BS on a 7.5" rim is OK but 3.5" BS on a 9.5" wide rims will have about 2 inches sticking out in back. Flares are the answer.
On edit, check these out from American Racing. The Cobra Polished and Cobra. Come in sizes ranging from 15x8 to 15x14 plus 17 and 18 sizes. Custom backspacing available. http://www.americanracing.com/wheels...loy§ion=SL
Not cheap though, $250 to $380 depending on size.
Edit 2: Checked out the Trigo's. Biggest difference I see is that the American Racing wheels are boltons and show the lugnuts. The Trigos are knock-offs and use an adapter. Heck, it is a Corvette, not a Cobra.
Oh, one more bit of info. www.newstalgiawheel.com carries most of these wheels. They also have a little applet that will let you see what they look like on the vehicle and they do have C-3's as a choice.
