Tranny Question
Hi All
Just wanted to find out what tranny I have in my 78 vette as I bought a kick down cable from member Jimbo but I don't see where it goes?My tranny on the pass. side has the air controled accurator and the 2 cooling lines. On the driver side from what I can see with car jacked up as far as I can get it (and I am a porker 280# and disabled so hard to see real good) but what I do see is the speedo. cable then in front of that it looks like a cable with a spring and a rubber boot on it I am thinking it is the shifter cable I don't know for sure this is where I need your in put. It is the L82 1978 350 ci. Auto. I think stock but don't really know for sure by this description can anyone tell me what tranny. I have and where the kick down cable goes? As it did not have one on it when I bought it. I put a new carb. Holly on it the origonal carb had some kind of metal little bar on the carb. and was wondering if this was acting as a kick down mech. Well this should have you-all scratching your heads for a while but let me know if you can come up with something on this.
Thank's in advance

If your vacuum modulator is under your tranny cooling lines, then you have a TH400, not a TH350. The TH350 vac mod is parallel to the drive shaft, on the rear passenger side. The TH400 is electric kickdown & your cable is useless. Look at the drivers side of the tranny & see if the there is a 1 or 2 prong connector, if so, you need a kickdown switch that is mounted on the gas pedal frame. 12v runs to the switch & with enough throttle the 12v reaches the tranny & it kicks down. The ground is provided by the tranny itself. The 2 prong switch is for an older locking TC on Caddies & Buicks, so probably not applicable here.
