Would anyone happen to know if I could do a direct frame swap from a 69-73 with my 77? If not, what changes would need to occur or is it even worth it?
I've been looking for a 77 frame in the Detroit area, but have had no luck.
Ya, looked all over the place. Seems as if they are all located in Atlanta or the SE US. Getting frustrated and desparate to find one local so I don't have to ship. I'm looking to spend around $400-$500.
There is absolutely no way you will find 69-73 frame for $500 these days. Most of them are either ready for the scrap heap or priced at $1,500 +. You would still have to cut the back of the frame above the rear wheels and weld on a later year rear section.
Try to find a parts car that has a reasonably good frame. I sold a mostly complete 79 with a pretty good frame that I had Rust-Bulleted and painted for $1,000.
I recently paid $1,500 for a very nice 73 frame and while it killed me to have to pay that much I think in retrospect I got a good deal.
