Default Brake Caliper removal - I need help

I was trying to remove the calipers this weekend and the bolts that hold them on the brackets are locked on tight. Are there any tips or tricks? I sprayed penetrating fluid on the bolts - still wont budge.

Spray them again and let them soak. You may also need a little heat.

You may need a long breaker bar to add more leverage.
Good luck

Default 6 pt socket

Make sure you use a six point socket. On frozen bolts, if you can't get an impact wrench on it, use the six point socket on a breaker bar and a 3 lb hammer to whack the breaker bar after you soak them with some penetrant. That will usually free up the caliper bolts. DO NOT use a 12 point socket. You will round off the heads of the bolts!

Don't mean to be 'smart' but make sure you are attacking the right bolts, I thought I was in the process of removing my calipers also, turns out the two bolts I was on were the ones the take the calipers themselves apart. You outta see the end of the extension my socket was in after I gave up on that. Laughable

Did you try some KROIL? That's the best stuff I've ever used for "thawing" frozen nuts and bolts

Sorry kansas123, that tickled me cos I almost did it myself. Thought to myself at the time that I would have looked a right d*ckhead if I got the second bolt out and half the caliper fell off

Impact socket and gun should back them right out.A little anti-sieze when they go back in will keep you from having this grief ever again.

if you plan to rebuild these then also loosen those caliper bolts that hold the two halves together now while its mounted in place....they can be a bear to take out when they are on a bench
