Default Update on door not opening

Hi all. I posted this thread a month ago: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1537093
and wanted to give you an update.

Through a friend of a friend I found a local guy that has worked on Vette's for years and was more than willing to work on it for free and drink his beer while we did it.

We started to take out the interior to get to the back door panel screw and then I showed them the pic that Durango posted and we read some other suggestions and we decided to do what you all suggested. I took the screwdriver and held down the tab, one guy held the outside door handle down and one guy in the Vette pushing on the door and BANG the door opened!!!!!!!!!!

As far as what caused it we still aren't sure. The control rod screw that controls the inside door handle hitting the latch was bent and the door latch arm was bent as well and we straightened them out and it works a ton better but I'm thinking about still replacing them.

Thanks for suggestions and input in this!

It's easy to replace if the old one is out, and a new one will only run you $80. That's petty compared to being locked out of your car at an inconvenient time.
