I am looking to purchase a restored q-jet for my 69 L46. I have talked with Jet Products and they will calibrate a restored carb to my specs for $410. Their carbs look great and the price seams very fair.
I work at a parts store and I see commercially rebuilt Q-Jets roll through at about 320-360 bucks canadian. They look pretty but I don't know how well they work. The rebuild shop is called "Autoline"
...lars doesn't have too many good things to say about those volume rebuilders though...
I am not a carb expert, but here are some thoughts on the subject.
Another option that you have..keep an eye on Fleabay. You could pick up one that needs rebuilding. Rebuild it yourself or send it out.
I think your correct carb# number is 7029207. I have seen many of these on Fleabay.
I bought one a while back. Think I paid about $125. I sent it out for rebuilding ( including plating). I can't remember, but I think I paid about $275. Depending on the condition of the linkage, bowls and shafts, you could do it yourself(without the plating). So thats about $400 into it. when it was finished, it was show quality. BTW, I personally would let a pro do the shafts.
If the one from jet is the correct number carb for your car (and possibly with the correct date) and is already set up to spec(correct jets, primaries and secondaries) and is show quality(looks like brand new with plating-not just painted), then it doesn't look like too bad a deal. Make sure you find out if he did the shafts and checked the bowl for warpage.
Thanks for the replies. The one from Jet would not be the correct number but would be set up for my cam specs and hot idle vacuum. They do replate and install new bushings.
By the way, I sent Lars a pm to see if he could do mine as well since all know he's the q-jet man.

I just recently purchased a Holley rebuilt Quadrajet from Schucks for $250. Car ran great right from the bolt on. What mods do they make to the Quad that are quetionable?
I talked with a Holley tech about their reman qjets and he said they set them up for a range of applications so the carb would not be dialed in for my application.
You might want check out this company, http://www.modeski-carburetors.com/22.html. Interesting info on q-jets on his webb site. I had him do a stage 3 rebuild on my spare carb a couple months ago. Looks great don't know how it runs yet. To cold to drive car. Seems to be a very knowledgeable person. Only bad thing was don't be in a hurry, took almost two months before I got my carb back, cost about $350
