Compressor air inlet - filter

Since I don't want to replace this filter all the time I was looking for:
1) a larger filter
2) less restrictive filter for more performance, preferrably washable (joking)
3) a cheap filter element
Here's what I came up with - it's a funnel cut and glued to the stock air filter housing. Inside the funnel is wire mesh to prevent the filter element from collapsing and getting sucked into the compressor.
The filter element is a coffee filter - can't beat the price, 100 for $1.89
It works great, just painted my mirror housings last night and the filter trapped all the dust
The black plastic piece is the original filter housing, the white plastic is the funnel.... I might upgrade to real DuctTape, the painters tape looks kinda cheap....

It was running hot because of the clogged filter. The original was a 2" diameter paper element, absolutely useless - that thing is $5 and has to be replaced every week (or 2-3 paintgun operating hours)

Not sure if they sell these seperately at HomeDepot (that's where I bought the compressor). The dipstick is held in place with a rubber O-ring, no clip.... maybe you're missing the O-ring ?

Thx again MYBAD.

Also, fish around inside the compressor housing for the old O-ring. Mine squeezed in, and I had to fish it out. I never would have noticed except the dipstick wouldn't seat right and was leaking oil. I checked, and the O-ring had disappeared. It was just inside the dipstick bore.
