Need 69 engine numbers checked
A friend just picked up a 69 Coupe with a 4 bolt main 350, how can he tell if it is the original block? Cast numbers top drivers side 3970010, stampings front boss V0806HZ.

HZ for '69 designates the 350/300hp engine (base) with automatic transmission. Check the pad again. There should be a second number (VIN derivative) stamped on the pad.

Good site for block and head numbers is www.nastyz28.com
I would also check the casting dates on the block. You have a good block number and assembly date but you need the vin number that matches in that year and a casting date.
