I have a '77 coupe (L48). The previous owner (or someone) put a set of L82 emblems on the hood. I will not be replacing those after the car is painted.
The question is.... I never see L48 emblems on any cars, but I see them in catalogs. Are these L48 emblems a factory option? Or an aftermarket "add-on"? Thanks.
Hey Mark,
I think they look great too and I've put them on several of my cars. If you're thinking of putting a set of the L-48 emblems on your '77 I've got a new pair. I bought them for my '75 but now I've decided to put a stripe scheme on my hood instead so I won't be using them this time.
I paid $39 from Corvette America for the pair. If you can use them they're yours for $25 shipped.
Let me know,
Greg
When I bought my '80 5 years ago and saw the L-48 emblems in my first Eckler's and Mid America catalogs, I thought my car was missing something important. Then I realized putting L-48 emblems on would be advertising I had the stock engine under the hood, but the L-48 emblem looks cool!
I don't mind custom cars, but it's not my style.
I am trying to put this car as close to factory / stock as possible. I am looking for the "look" as it just came off the lot. Same colors, no tints, no mods....
My first vette was a 77 For all the looking I did when I still had that car there was No L-48 or Anything on the hood of A 77 ,Mayby early or late they had to use some up or something stranger things have happened.

In that case your hood was void of any emblem. Leave it blank and that's correct for your car.
The L-48 badge was never put on as a factory trim piece as noted above. Only the L-82's had the badge as a factory trim piece but not all L-82's were produced with the badges, especially on the pre-1975 cars.

That's a rip off...they should have put them on all models...no matter the model. I think it adds a lot to the lines of the hood and the car.
