Are the struts for the IRS supposed to be straight? All the vendor's struts are straight, along with what's depicted in the AIM. Mine are straight, running parallel to the half shafts, until about 4" from the TAs, then they take a downward turn to the TA. Being an ignorant fool, I figured, "Gee, a neat way to gain ground clearance." But as I view new struts and pictures posted on the forum, maybe the previous owner propped jack-stands under them, thinking like it's a live axle. Did Chevy ever install what I described? I just received smart strut rods from VBP today (w/brake line$, rear A$B, bu$hing$, DOT 5, etc).
PS I'm looking at digital cameras now, thanks for your patience
That's actually a pretty typical bubba alignment fix when the cam bolts freeze in place or the differential yokes wear down to the point where you can't bring in the rear camber enough. You're replacing them anyway, so that solves that problem, but you might want to check the play on your differential yokes to make sure they are ok.

On a side note a few years back I found an alignment shop that was loosening the cam and letting it flop out all the way tightening it and then bending the strut to set camber. They said they had no comebacks from the cam slipping.

Mine were like this, good to see your replacing them
You may want to look over this post on the bearings. It has been closed and is fading away and I'm not sure I want to go through posting all this again.

Gary -could that thread be condensed and saved?Thats alot of good info to let fade away.It would sure save a bunch of typing if it could be put somewhere and refered to at will.

Good point, with all the posts I ran on rear bearings, posi's, differentials, steering boxes, U joints, etc I just don't feel like typing them all up again. They help a lot of guys out but I don't know where or how to save them? Maybe I should put it all in a CD or book and sell them! LOL Probably be better then 1/2 of the books I already bought!
