Default oil cleanup/please help

does anyone know the best way to clean burnt oil off of aluminized exhaust pipes. its cooked on there really good, and i dont want to ruin my pipe coating

acetone maybe..... or nail polish remover

it's not as harsh as laquer thinner

Try steam cleaning...or Simple Green and a scrub brush...

GM top engine cleaner or GMs throttle body cleaner

I had the same issues with a rear main leak at one point...could not get it clean......so....i repaired the leak, & painted my entire exhuast with RUSTOLIUM ALUMINUM PAINT & USED A BRUSH..............came out PERFECT !!

Try steel wool and a metal polish.

Oven cleaner is the best and cheapeat way to clean the carbon buildup out of valve covers and oil pans that I have found so I agree that it should work on the exhaust pipes. Might want to try it in a inconspicious place first though to see what kind of surface it leaves.

Oven cleaner got all the caked up oil off a complete rear end I put in my Z28. Don't know how it would leave the pipes, but it did a good job of cleaning.

i use oven cleaner when my wife accidently sticks her tennis shoe on my chrome motorcycle exhaust. I would think it would work the same in your case.
