I'm in the process of taking off my trailing arms so they can be rebuit. I am having serious issues with the half shaft bolts. One bolt is pretty stripped by the brake caliper. I have some kroil on the way to try and get some of the rust broken up and hopefully I can get a grip and get it out. If that does not work I am thinking of possibly taking the bolts by the diff out and once I get the TA out, I can get a better angle on the stripped bolt.
Any thoughts?
Also, if I decided to have this done at a shop, how much would you think it would cost for taking the TAs out, rebuilding and replacing the strut rods?
I'm about fed up with this project but I don't think paying someone else is going to be in the budget.

I visited a local machine shop the other day down in Raleigh; they charge $8per bolt removal. If they are going to do the TAs, perhaps they'll give you a break. I just removed my half shafts last week. One of the TA side bolts for the half shaft was going south; after soaking w/Liquid Wrench for a day, Hammerhead Fred's idea worked.
Before the Kroil arrives, run by the local Wal-Mart or hardware store and get a little bottle of Hoppe's #9 gun solvent. It'll knock the rust loose too..
If you have the entire job done by a shop it's not going to be cheap. I spent over $500 earlier this year to have a TA bushing replaced and a 4 wheel alignment. I didn't feel comfortable enough to pull the TA myself and send it out. I learn more every day on this forum and would probably give it a shot myself next time.
