I am in the process of putting together my '77 coupe. Here are a couple of pictures of the dash. I don't know if I should buy a complete dash, or a cover that glues down over the damaged one I have. The structure is in fair shape, but the plastic is craked all over. Has anyone done a dash cover? How difficult of a job is it? I would like to save money, but not if it's going to look like crap?. Thanks
That dash is too far out of shape (cracks puckered up) for a cover to lay on it smoothly.
I'd replace it......I got the best deal from Al Knoch Interiors, saved me almost $80 VS buying a Corvette America brand from Wilcox. (which I don't use anymore anyways)
Check out the Al Knoch website
Edit: I just noticed thats a 77 model dash.......either way Al Knoch would save you some money.

The *real* question is how do you get the upper dash in and out of a 73. I tried taking mine out and it starting cracking so I left it in and just slid it up as high as possible.
I'm not sure if the 68 has the same configuration as the 77, but I heated mine from below with a hair dryer until it was nice and warm. I had removed the pillar trim and was able to bend it enough to clear the birdcage without cracking anything. I reinstalled it using the same method with no problems.
Only one thing, Not All The Sun, Petrollium distilates Did that damage When you do get your new dash use a sun blocker not Armoljunk. It dries out the plastiser in the plastic and then it does what yours did.spa cover something 303 0r 404 something like that Im not at home where my bottle is .You can order it through sonshine covers in ohio talk to Donna tell em the Hottub guy sent ya.(I fix hottubs on the side)
I just bought an upper dash from Willcox last week for my 71 for $270. CC was $369 and Al Knoch was $339. The one from Willcox was nice quality also. I have not installed it yet but it was VERY close to the original.
