i've been buying fm ecklers since a few years now, they're pretty streight and quick in dispatching, also, any time i've asked for a discount 'otherwise i....(go somewhere else... )' they take me 10% off, last but not least the lady at the international customers is great and helpful (she sends me christmas cards too )...

I give most of my business to Zip, Corvette Central and the Last Detail and have been pretty happy with them so far.
Corvette Central is hit or miss too. I spent a lot of money with them and one bad $ 25 part from them. After I tried to get a correct like original part they stop sendind catlogs. There tech dept. agreed it was made with the holes in the wrong locations and they still sell it. Zips had the right part made correct.

Not to defend Ecklers BUT this is true. GM, AC Delco and others DO buy service replacement parts from different suppliers and the parts they supply today are many times different from what was supplied on the assembly line. For example, Melling supplies GM with oil pumps for service parts that are physicaly different than what you had in there when the car was built. Functional but not identical.

Not saying that this is true in this particular case but I have seen some REALY different GM boxed "service" parts that were nowhere close to what came with the car originaly.

Try to find one that you like better and buy it. You can always send this one back.

-Mark.

I tend to agree with Stingr69. GM, Delco, NAPA, etc. source worldwide to get quality parts at the best price. Check the new Corvette with Bosch electrical components, NGK spark plugs and more. Hence it is entirely conceivable that Eckler's purchased that part from Delco.

NAPA horn relay for my 1967 (Made in India).

GM high-torque mini-starter (Made in Taiwan).

Wells VR715 solid-state voltage regulator (Made in China).

GM (AC Delco) is in business to make money, and one way of doing that is to go offshore for parts production and changing specs, materials, etc. to cut costs, especially on low volume parts...like C3 parts...to compete. My guess is that a condenser from a GM dealer wouldn't look any different than the AC Delco condenser bought through Ecklers.

Eckler's doesn't make their own parts. They buy them from distributors and manufacturers. I am sure they get some of their parts from the same sources as Mid America, Corvette Central, etc.

So the moral of the story here is, buy your parts off Ebay and eliminate the middle man.

Default That's (H)eckler's

Years ago I ordered some of their aerosol paint for my rally rims I was refinishing. This paint was supposed to have the slight green hue to it. Their sales guy guaranteed this was a special paint for the rally rims made to their specifications; which by the way cost about two and a half times the cost of normal paint -plus the haz mat fee to get it to me.

After I had painted three of the rims I noticed the Eckler's label was loose on one of the six cans I ordered. I pulled it off only to find it was relabeled Krylon brand paint in Argent Silver.

Never Again Ecklers.

UPDATE: Ecklers sent me a new condenser and a return shipping label for the previous condenser coil.

The new one came in an ACDELCO box and was marked ACDELCO.

It is the same exact condenser coil however.

What I believe happened is that they sent me a 'returned' coil the first time. One that had been removed from it's orginal packaging--that's why it got damaged upon shipping--it wasn't nice and securely packaged like from the original manufacturer.

Anyhow, I will use this one--I wanna be finished and back on the road.

However, I can't help wondering what the difference between the 1968's "Reproduction" condenser vs. this ACDELCO (reproduction) condenser.

Oh well, Ecklers advertising was correct and they promptly took back the damaged unit and sent out the replacement.

They may be guilty of a lot of things, but in this case (and every other case I've dealt with them) they did ok by me.
