I have one leaky caliper (right front). Not sure if I should change just that one or all four?
The rotors have some rust on them.
Any idea how I can take the rust off ?
Ideally I would like to change all four rotors and calipers but there is a lot of other things to replace on my car, so right now I am just trying to get it drivable.
If the calipers are original and have never been sleeved (with stainless), they'll need it. If it were me I take all four off and have them cleaned up, painted (your choic of colors), sleeved, o-ringed, and rebuilt. It's expensive though,..from $65-75 per caliper. Van Steel and VBP can both take care of you.

I had a leaky one, so I replaced it w/ a parts house remanufactured caliper - has been great for 2 years. Did some rear-end work last winter, broke the bleeders off the back 2 and couldn't use an EZ out to remove the rest of them, so I replaced them each with remanufactured calipers, been okay for the last year, have one original (or at least original to me) caliper. I say don't fix what aint broke, so just replace the one that leaks..
the "experts" say to replace them in pairs...if it was me (for a street car) I might consider the o-ring style from VB&P if yours have already been sleeved you can just buy the o-ring piston kit otherwise budget for a set of four calipers....

Buy the 0-ring rebuild kits and do it your self if you can, I'm no mechanic and it only took me a day to do all four.
I only wish I would have painted them before I put them back on.
Not to sound like a cheapskate,, but why replace something that is working, if you wanna drive it just fix what needs fixing and be prepared to do the others sometime in the not to distant future. Peace,,,Moosie

I replace my right front with a rebuilt unit and it worked fine. That was two months ago and now the left front is leaking. I rebuilt this one myself, it was easy. I would replace both fronts if one is leaking, or both rears if the rear is leaking. Good Luck
I went into an autozone store today. Very reasonable price, but they dont carry O-Ring Designed calipers.
Is O-Ring calipers such a big deal?
They're especially useful if you have excessive rotor runout. Its claimed that the O-ring design will help keep air from getting past the seal.
If your car has the original calipers and they have not been sleeved its real important to make sure you don't have any bad seals, wether they be lip or o-ring. I still have original non-sleeved calipers, but I rebuild them every other year.
If your car sits the (factory type) lip seals take a set which causes them to leak. you could buy Autozone sleeved calipers now and upgrade to the o-ring piston at a later date...like when the lip seals leak next time....are you sure you don`t already have sleeved calipers? you might get away with just buying the o-ring piston kit...
