Default Help finding info on engine numbers?

I need to find a source that will verify what my engine is. I have the Block and Head numbers and would like to find out what the engine came out of. Someone in the past told me it was probably out of a 69 vette or camaro and that it is a 350. I'd like to know where I can find the information to cross-reference this for my records. I may not be doing a NCRS resto, but I want to have all the correct information just-in-case I decide to sell it years down the road.

Web-sites or other sources?

Thanks
BW

Post the numbers you will find stamped on the pad at the front of the right head. These will give you the engine assembly date and code, plus the VIN deriviative of the car the engine was originally installed in.

Looks like the 1968 327 engine was a 2-bolt main, and that there were none made with 4-bolt. Is this correct?

CID Year Bore Main Cap

267 1979 - 81 3.500 2 bolt ONLY
305 1976 - 96 3.736 2 bolt ONLY
307 1968 - 73 3.875 2 bolt ONLY
327 1968-69 4.001 (2.3" main) 2 bolt
350 1968-88 4.001 (2.3" main) 2 bolt
265 1994 4.001 (2.45" main) 2 bolt
302 1968-69 4.001 (2.45" main) 4 bolt
350 1968-96 4.001 (2.45" main) 4 bolt
400 1970-72 4.126 (2.65" main) 4 bolt

No factory 4-bolt 327s.

What numbers are stamped on the stamp pad (machined surface on the block in front of the passanger side head)? Should be two sets of numbers stamped there.

Post the numbers on the block. I have a book called "Corvette by the numbers" which has all the Vette blocks listed by year.

Thanks, Guys!

Here are some of the numbers I read off of the engine and heads. Don't think I found the correct numbers for the engine yet.

It is a 4 bolt main, been bored .060

engine #'s
block: 25GM 3970010
date codes (?): 1 C120 TDN

there were many other letters and numbers on the block as well...?

The head #: GM7 2782461 F95 13. Looks like the heads from a 62-67 327sb with 1.94 intake and 1.5 exhaust.

I'll need to look at the block again for the correct numbers...been super busy lately!

Block casting # 3970010 is a 350 SB with 2 or 4 bolt main used from 69 to 79 including some truck aplications.

I think the Cylinder head should be 3782461 which was used from 64-69 327 SB in various HP and valve sizes. 1.94/1.50 and 2.02/1.60 F 95 13
