Default Interior Update Pictures

Just had to post some pictures of what I have been doing with my 77. I have the interior partly installed. I got the rear section put back together. I redyed the seatbelts, they were a faded dark brown. It worked pretty good for the cost of a bottle of dye from the grocery store. I redyed all the plastic with Corvette America dye used in the paint gun. I rebuild the rear compartment section with new plastic frames and carpet from Willcox. Tonight I finished covering the seats. They look pretty good for an amateur upholstry man. I have also redyed all the dash and replaced the upper portion with a new pad. Replaced all the bulbs in the instruments..I still have to put all the harware on the new door panels. Hope to have it all back together by the end of the week if I can steal enough time. Will post some picture when done.

The seats look good. What are the covers made of and did you replace the foam also?? How much time and labor to change the seat covers?
Any special tools?
Thanks,

I covered the seats myself. The only tools I used were a pair of long nose needle nose pliers and some hog ring pliers. I bought the covers from Willcox (leather like). My car is weekend driver. Be sure to buy an install kit, the old parts will likely be shot. I reused my old foam and cleaned up the frames and springs. I took the foam from the frame and attached the covers to the foam before I put them back on the frame. Good luck everyone! Just take your time and be patient...

Can I suggest you go with 6.5" speakers? They always sound better than the oblong speakers...crisper and clearer.

Looks great!

Soon to embark on the restoration of my '76 interior and I'm wondering if I could pick your brain on a couple of things please:

In what order do I dismantle the dash, and is it possible to take everything out for respraying, without removing anything major like the steering column?

The dye you used to recolour your dash - is this suitable for the rest of the interior? i.e. door trims, t-top trims, etc.

Last but not least I've never come accross a source of information on restoring a vette interior.....there MUST be somewhere I can read up on all this!!!

Any info you can give would make my task easier

73 seats (with the seatbelt pass thru hole) are a pain in the a..
I still am working on them. But the leather covers and foam from Willcox is very nice. They will look great...someday.
