They only switched sides 1 time (year). I believe up to 1982 the checkered flag was on the right of the two, Then, starting in 1984 it switched to the left and the red side then contained a Chevy Bowtie emblem
I'm thinkin' bout gettin a tatoo of the c3 flags, but you see them flip-flopped all the time. Why is that and what way is right? Thanks.
im doing the same thing... not just for the flags but b/c i feel i would have been a totally diffrent person if it wasnt for my vette... my charicter owes alot of thanx to the gearhead my car turned me into
i say go for it.. its your body, use it as u please

Just my opinion, everyone i know who got one regrets it at one time or another.
It's FOREVER, and forever is a mighty long time.
THINK BEFORE YOU INK !!!
Whoa man, simmer down!!!! Tats are cool if they're done right. I personally don't have one and have seen a few that look like they were done by a third grader.....but by the same token, I've seen some that were jam up. Don't be so hard on them, at least they're not wanting a Mustang tattoo!

Aight, Thanks. Ya i knew the red flag was to the left on my 74, but have seen it both ways.
427SIXPACK....I said i was thinking about it.....When and if I get one it's gonna be something that means something to me and since I've wanted a vette for as long as i can remember i think this just might qualify.
I have been thinking the same thing
My daughter is a tattoo artist so shouldn't be a problem for me
She says ever since that Miami Inked show came on last year business has been crazy. We figure she has a carreer for life, first 30 years putting them on and the second 30 taking them off all the seniors
I think it is up to the individual....the only thing I have to say is that those aren't C3 flags, but Chevrolet flags. Orginally it had a checkered flag and American flag, but US law doesn't allow the American Flag to be used in any business logoing. It was then changed to reflect the heritage, and the Fleur Di Lis was added to reflct the Chevrolet Brothers French heritage.
The flags swapped sides in 84 when the restyled the emblem. Even when the went back to more conventional looking flags for the C5 the didn't change back.

same here. if i ever get a tattoo it will be the cross flags with the stingray script underneath it.
i knew a kid at school who got the mustang emblem with the red/white/blue stripes behind it tattood on his whole back
