how do i remove the crossed flag emblems on the front fenders of my 1977? I took off the nose and the gas tank badges and redid them with model paint and they look great. Only problem is now the side ones don't look nearly as good so I guess they're next. Thanks.

Can you strip and paint them while they are on the car?
Another trick to remove stick on emblems and such is to soak around the edges with "GOO GONE" spray gel then use a piece of nylon fishing line to cut through the sticky tape (between the emblem and the surface it's stuck to). I used this method when changing emblems on the fenders. No paint damage at all.
If they are like a '79, they are just glued on with this back junk. Thin putty knife and pop them off carefully. You are repainting anyway, so if you get a nick or two, you can fix it and paint.
My 79 was being stripped to fiberglass so I just pried them off with a putty knife. They are held on with adhesive, but they have 2 locating studs on the back of them.
