I'm sure part numbers have changed sine I was there. Go to www.audiovox.com and I'm sure you can browse all the models for retail. The Pursuit (Car Dealer Line) will not be on the web. Locate dealer on web also.

Thanks for that. I find it odd that Audiovox makes one of the best kits for that application. I've been making fun of their car audio stuff for many years.

There car audio sucks that is why they bought Jensen, and Jensen sucks but Jensen has a better name in the field than Audiovox or Prestige.

Audiovox phone were great but Toshiba made them. Audiovox makes one of the best security systems ans R/S out there. The main reason they own the new car dealer business, so they incorporate the newest technology to work with the new cars. 95% of defective product was installer error.

You know how many installers can't wire a relay but they work on a 40K car

A quick update , I put a higher bid in for the RS you listed that was on E-Bay - I went to $41.50 + $22 shipping. The bidding ended midnight last night and when I looked this morning , I was out bid - sold for $42 - thats $64 inc shipping. To top it all I went to collect the mail yesterday and there is a parcel there that turns out to be the Keyless entry system that I bought back in Oct last year !!! It took 80 days to arrive - seller said 20-45 days , I didnt know that the USPS were still using horse and wagon to deliver the mail!!!
I had given up all hope of it ever turning up , hence why I was looking for the RS and Keyless entry.
So now that I have the keyless entry , I think I am going to fit that and maybe (or maybe not) put a RS in at a later date.

Now just gotta wait to get the car back from paint to fit it.

Just wanted to say thanks again to all who posted responses , especially Spedaleden , for the time taken to advise , it is very much appreciated.

Which keyless kit did you get, a cheapo Ebay setup? Did it come with electric lock actuators or is this just the keyless?

I bought it on ebay last oct , It had a starting bid of $0.01 with shipping of $9.99 so I figured worth the risk to see what it is. I bid max of $10 but I won it for 1c !!! . I paid the 10 bucks thinking that the guy wouldn't bother to send it ( why would he for 1c!!, andhe was in Australia!!) but again for 10 bucks and just for fun to see what happens, I wasn't loosing much. So when it didn't turn up before xmas it wasn't too much of a shock. After xmas was done and still no sign , I tried to contact the seller - no reply so I left him some nice -ve feedback and moved on.
Then we got this truck with the remote start and thats what got me thinking about the remote start on the vette.-the rest you know

The Keyless entry (thats the brand) looks ok , comes in a flashy box and features list is :-

Universal features , fits any models and make
compatible with any factory installed central door locking system (time output selectable)
remote control door lock/unlock
light flash confirmation
remote car panic
remote trunk release (+/- output option)
Waterproof remote controller.
positive or negative trigger door locking system compatible

There are no actuators - I already have them as the doors are central locking but from a switch on the inside.

I figure for my 10 bucks I either have a bargain or a POS - time will tell .
If it is a POS I will go back to the whole RS + keyless entry option again.

I found a lot on ebay for 6 units of audiovox AS-9055t remote starter kits - I got them for $60 + shipping so $10 each. If you google as-9055t you will see that it is an entry level remote starter kit , no keyless entry , just a single button but it looks ok and they are audiovox , so a good brand.
Anyway I have homes for two of the units and was gonna keep one for the Xmas giveaway this year then put the other 3 back on ebay but if a forum member wants one of them for the $10 I paid for them + shipping then you are welcome.
They have obviously not arrived here yet and I am assuming they are ok , they were listed as new so as with all things ebay , I am going on trust.
Let me know if you are interested.

I am not interested in making anything on them , I bought them cause I wanted one for my vette , then my dad wants one for the truck and I am going to give one away on the giveaway , the other three are surplus so I just want what I paid for them - if it helps out a fellow member - thats good with me

although I have never installed a remote starter in a C3... I have installed 5 in the wifes and mine daily drivers.

I use Bulldogsecurity.com units; but for no other reason than I am already familiar with them.

No; I've had very good luck with them... I guess that's why I keep buying Bulldog Security units (JUST KNOCKED ON WOOD FOR GOOD LUCK)

Sams Club sells a few models; I'd suggest the model Deluxe 200 (without alarm) or the model Deluxe 500 with alarm.

.

Just a heads up - you will only get about 300 feets out of that unit. It is not a superhet receiver. That unit was made for e.g. Dodge Caravan. customer had six buttons on the factory remote and it became difficult to duplicate factory remote with aftermarket remote, so they made a 1 button to add to the factory remote. Unit should have a pulse ground at start to disable factory alarm. Hook that wire to your factory disarm wire in drivers door or at factory alarm. Also hook up start wire (yellow wire on remote start) after factory starter kill. If you don't and you have the factory alrm armed, car won't start.

Dennis , thanks again for the info on the starter - the range is not an issue for me as I will probably only use it on first start up when the car is in the garage , my whole issue is with the security of leaving the car running in the garage with the keys in the ignition and the garage door open.

I have had a quick look through the instalation manual and it does not look too bad to do , there are a couple of things that I am not too sure of , it may become clearer when I can actually look at the car.
I am hoping that you wont mind me posting questions or PMing you if I get stuck?

Not sure how long the car will be at paint , so it could be a while before I get to install it but if it.

Thanks again for all of the info

No problem

If your car was like mine you won't see it for 5 months, but it will spend a lot of time in the paint booth.

No not yet - I am not expecting to see it for a few weeks yet . I am in no hurry as it would just sit in the garage this time of year. And the guy is taking his time and doing it around his regular stuff. I told him I wanted it back by the time the weather got good enough to drive her so that is the time frame we are working with.
