Three-Point Seat Belt Question
I have been concerned with safety for some time, particularly with cars that contain only lap belts such as my 1967. In 1966-67 there were optional shoulder belts and two years ago I had a set made up to GM specs. But this is a two-belt, two-buckle system and very uncomfortable to use.

So last November I ordered a three-point belt system with retractors. They came with generic tongues and buckles that I recently removed and had GM Mark of Excellence versions installed. In finishing up that project this week I suddenly realized that I do not know the function of one part. And the instructions are no help. In the pic there is a black plastic piece just to the right of the buckle and tongue. It slides on the webbing. Does anyone know the purpose of that piece?
