Default Help finding spring, steering

Is there a large spring in a 68 tele column that sits on the spline shaft between the steering wheel hub plate and base? I have three books and all are differant, this could be my issue with turn signal switches not operating correct. If there is, know a part number? Can't find in CC catalog..Fyi, not the horn contact spring...

I don't have one, don't think there is a c-clip..I found a detail showing it on a 67,but not listed for 68 yet it's shows in the picture, isn't it the same?

Part number 562161...number 164 is the horn spring..

Really! No sh&t...I've been having real problems with the blinker ring not reseting ,things like loosing one bank of brake lights or all 4 blinking through the hazard relay if the handle was not just right. Guess the pressure from tightning down was binding the switch....Thank you...

Get Jim Shea on this one- I have never met him, but I have read some of his tech papers. If anyone would know, it would be him! He's on the forum. I don't have the link handy, but if you do a search, he'll turn up..

there is on one the non tilt for sure(Ive had min apart oftebn enough to fix liitel annoyuing problems like you describe), no clips though, since the 68 colum is a carry over from 67, then i would say yes for the spring in the tilt tele as well.

This is a link to a picture on the www.corvettefaq.com websight http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-co...n67-68Tele.doc
This picture can be found in the 1968 Chev Chassis Service Manual and it is also the same picture that is in the AIM book. This 1968 picture is similar but not exactly the same as the one posted just above.

I believe that the above picture actually shows the steering wheel, horn, and telescope locking parts for a 1965 or 1966 model. However, it does have a spring between the canceling cam and the steering wheel hub similar to my 1968 picture.

Dr. Rebuild lists a 65-66 Upper Bearing Spring with telescope as 6521111and also a 67-68 Upper Bearing Spring as being the same. I would think that this is the spring that you want.
